About Yamagata Club

    Our club was founded in March, 1998 as the twenty-first club in Japan and the third in Tohoku area, following Miyagi, Koriyama. Members are not only in Yamagata city, but also near cities and towns such as Kaminoyama, Nanyo, Takahata, Murayama, Higashine, Asahi, and so on.

About Yamagata Prefecture

   「Keep our warm friendship like hot spring!」

This is the catch phrase of the 20^th annual All Japan Friendship Force conference

 in Yamagata, in June, 2006. Like this, Yamagata is the kingdom of hot springs. There are spas in all cities, towns and villages. It’s also the kingdom of fruits. Because of the big difference of temperature in four seasons, we have many kinds of them- cherries in early summer, La France (pears), apples in fall. Look at the map. Yamagata city is located in the north-east part of Japan and just in the center across the Japanese Islands, not far from the Japan Sea and the Pacific Ocean. So we can have not only vegetables, fruits but also fresh seafood from both seas easily. Well, Yamagata is the kingdom of appetite, too. We also have many historical valuable places and buildings. And the people have succeeded to the tradition and culture. So Yamagata is evaluated as one of the representative sightseeing spots in Japan.
